New Milton off to a flyer

New Milton U13 A 107 – 5                Bashley A 59 – 6

On a chilly evening at Fernhill, New Milton batted first with openers Ollie Nicholls (30 retired) and Toby Edwards (26) laying the foundations with a 59 run opening stand. The pair kept the score board moving with some good running between the wickets whilst any loose bowling was punished. Charlotte Taylor then blasted a couple of boundaries in a cameo innings to take the home team’s total to over 100. The 32 extras conceded by Bashley didn’t help their cause.

In reply Bashley were always behind the run rate as New Milton bowled with discipline to restrict scoring opportunities. Ollie Dowding (11) batted patiently at the top of the order but it wasn’t until Marcus Lewis (14 n.o.) came to the crease towards the end of the innings that any pressure was put on the home side. New Milton’s bowlers shared the wickets with George Watts (3-0 -11-1), Alex Mills (4-0-10-1 ), Toby Edwards (4-0-11-1) and Josh Thompson (3-0-10-1) the most effective.
