“THE TIGER GETS 4”

New Milton II 88-10 lost to Hythe & Dibden 89-7

New Milton without Rowledge bound skipper Peter Wakefield were asked to bat first, on what proved to be a bowler’s paradise. The wicket typically in May proved to be A handful to all the batsman on the Day.  After an initial stable opening stand between Watts and Neal, wickets began to fall at regular intervals. Only Watts (10) Wilson (23) and S.Dyer-Smith (11) made double figures.  New Milton were all out for poultry 88.

After the interval, Milton came out ready for a battle. Milton’s opening Attack of Waller and Neal bowled well with no luck in the early stages of Hythe’s innings, but with the introduction of one time Leicester City FC trialist Steve “Double Top” Tilbury, the game began to turn slightly. Tilbury bowled 10 over’s straight off, which is no mean feat for a man of his stature.  In tandem with vice skipper Taylor 8-6-9-0 the pressure was being applied, and when Tilbury 10-1-21-4 finished his spell Hythe were battling to score runs. Neal (2-27) returned for an impressive second spell, but with only 88 to defend it was always going to be a tough ask. With some great out fielding Hythe limped past Milton’s total with only 3 wickets left.

Milton Travel to Ropley next week who are also looking for their first win.
