NEW FOREST U13 LEAGUE

At a sunny Fernhill, with a good crowd watching,  Ellingham won the toss and asked New Milton to bat. This looked to be an excellent decision as opening bowlers Rouse and Perrett had the home team reeling at  6 for 3 after 3 overs. Eveliegh and Keffen played their way out of trouble with some positive strokeplay and put on an excellent 61 for the 4th wicket. New Milton closed on 80 for 6 from their 16 overs.

Rouse opened the Ellingham innings and played beautifully, hitting the boundary regularly. Unfortunately nobody could stay with him. Herbert took 2 wickets in his first 2 balls, Hughes bowled a double wicket maiden and wicketkeeper Chapman made 2 sharp stumpings. Rouse retired after scoring 30 but after Keffen took 2 wickets in an over, Rouse returned to the crease. He continued his free scoring and looked as though he could win the match for Ellingham singlehandedly, until a beauty from Eveliegh took out his middle stump for 43. New Milton won an exciting contest by 11 runs to take their 3rd straight victory this season.
